Academic support
- Course advice

Our friendly Future Students Centre advisers are available to help with all your questions prior to starting university study, like which course to choose, entry requirements, how to apply and more.
Once you start at UWA, your student office can provide assistance with course-related queries, like checking your enrolment, creating a study plan and advising on global and extra-curricular experiences. They can also help you handle complex matters regarding special consideration, credit transfer, approved leave, academic progression, graduation eligibility and other special approval requests.

We have almost 5,000 study spaces available for group study or independent learning, so you’re sure to find a space to suit. When you’re a university student, our Library team can help you find and reference information to support your studies, use UWA IT systems such as Pheme and Learning Management System (LMS), print documents and a whole lot more.
- LinkedIn Learning
- LinkedIn Learning is a global platform that provides you with access to online learning modules to help you develop the professional and personal skills to support your studies and future careers. It is free to all students at UWA for the duration of their studies.
- Online learning tools

Depending on your unit of study, teaching staff will be facilitating and supporting live, online sessions when face-to-face sessions, such as tutorials and seminars, are not able to be conducted. We've developed some learning programs and resources to support your online learning.

Participate in free academic skills programs to improve your study techniques, time management, writing, communication, English language, maths, stats and research skills. You can also get expert, one-on-one advice from UWA staff.

- Safety and security

The Campus Security team is available to support students, staff and the UWA community 24/7. UWA offers an after-hours security escort service to car parks, colleges and accommodation immediately adjacent to the University. Uniformed security officers can be called upon to ensure you reach your destination safely.
Specialised services and support
- Indigenous students

UWA’s School of Indigenous Studies (SIS) provides a resource centre for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students on campus, including students in the Aboriginal Orientation Course and undergraduate and postgraduate students. The SIS Student Services team provides advice and support to students throughout their studies, and also offers a variety of facilities and services, such as a computer lab, common room and library.

As a new international student, you can get in touch with our dedicated team to get support throughout your studies through one-on-one consultations and help connecting to other services we offer.
The International Students’ Department of the UWA Student Guild exists to look after the welfare of all international students studying in UWA.
If you’re currently overseas, we’re continuing to offer online learning in 2021, so you don’t need to delay your degree due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Start your studies at home and join us here in Australia when travel restrictions are lifted. Find out what online learning looks like at UWA.

The McCusker Centre for Citizenship will pair you with a community, not-for-profit, government or business organisation to help make a difference, with possible credit going towards your degree.

Bloom is a creative lab dedicated to boosting startups. You’ll be encouraged to take your big idea and turn it into a reality, whether that’s a small business, community initiative or globe-spanning enterprise. As a second-year student, you could choose to apply for Bloom’s Launchpad program, a one-semester unit that counts towards your degree, and gain the business skills and connections needed to share your vision with the world.

As a new student, you can get in touch with your dedicated Student Advising Office for support throughout your studies and connect you with our support services. We offer so many ways for you to get the most out of your time at UWA, from volunteering, joining a Student Guild club, getting involved in UWA Sport, or taking your studies global.

All new students will automatically be connected with a current student UniMentor who’ll help you navigate life at UWA. You can ask them questions, seek advice or attend events. You’ll be invited to join our mentoring program during Orientation so keep an eye on your student email.

The UWA Student Guild offers interest-free loans, grants, budgeting assistance and other financial advice or referrals you may need.

If you need financial help for emergencies to cover expenses related to your education, we may be able to provide you with financial assistance through UWA’s Study Support Fund.
